GM is going through with the Colorado ZR2. The emissions certification was applied for via California Air Resources Board (CARB). The certification lists the 3.6L gas engine. No word yet on the diesel, but I’ll wait (GM pls).

Here’s a link to the pdf for the Emissions Cert on CARB’s site (gotta scroll all the way to the bottom to see a list of vehicles for the cert):

But I doubt it’ll be anything like the concept...

I’d be shocked if it isn’t available with the Duramax.

prepare for a slightly reworked bumper, some Bilstein shocks and few skid plates and some better tires. Best case, replace Bilstein with some better remote res shocks.

Hopefully it will be close to the concept but the one thing that is interesting is the 2wd vesions. Cab versions? Are we also getting regular cab options too?

I think it could be close, I’m not a fan of integrated winches so they could do away with that. That ZH2 concept for the military did have front and rear lockers with buttons on the inside that were pretty polished for a concept, and the other mods to the concept are pretty basic, so hopefully it works out.

The emissions cert is for all vehicles that use that engine such as the cab chassis Colorado

Forgot to mention that the cert lists it as a 2017, sooooo probably see it at the LA show next month?

Sort of confused now, so will all Colorado 4x4s be ZR2? Or is this just adding to the original list of Colorados by adding the ZR2 and a cab chassis used for beds like utility beds?

I’d love to get excited, but a short bed 4 door Z71 is already $36000-40000+. Pickup prices - atleast the MSRPs - are through the roof. Currently, almost all manufacturers have $10000-12000 discounts on the MSRP for select models. Unfortunately, Colorado has a $500 rebate only, unless you go for a diesel - I’ve seen those with $4000 on the hood, but they are all priced at over $40000.

This is just adding to the list of Colorados. The other Colorados have their own separate cert (link at the end). Because the ZR2 and Chassis Cab are classed as both LDT2 and LDT3 they have to be on a separate cert document than the other Colorados, which are all LDT2.

The ZH2 concept had front and rear lockers and those buttons look pretty finished, the ZR2 just has to have them. pls GM *fingers crossed*

The Trail Boss package was eliminated for the 2017's and that was a $7k option, I would hope the ZR2 slides in to fill that gap and not approach the $50k for the Raptor.

Its not hard to get a finished looking button.Guys do it all the time for their scratch built stuff, so I wouldn’t put much stock in it. Truth is, I don’t know who make an electronic locker for the axles in this truck, they wont use air, and GM sure wont be developing their own (since they already outsource the axles) so it might just be engineer wishful thinking.

I think it will be in mid 40's and Raptor sure looks way better for a bit more. I built one for $54k.

I’m not sure how the Trail Boss ever made sense. It was so expensive because the package didn’t replace the original parts. You owned both the original and new wheels and tires, etc.

The ZR2 should compete with the TRD Pro with the V6 coming in around $40k.

25% more is not “a bit more”.

The ZR2 will have DSSV dampers from Multimatic. Similar to those used on the Camaro Z/28 and other high performance sports cars. Will be interesting to see them purposed for offroad use.

The front locker is also a good possibility. The H3 had one.

Other than that - better tires, skid plates, and a suspension lift.
